Vehicle Overview

The Limited Edition Mitsubishi Pajero RX was introduced as a more generously equipped interpretation of the Pajero GLX, adding distinctive styling details and technology intended to broaden the vehicle’s appeal without moving into the upper end of the range. It retained the Pajero’s established four-wheel-drive capability while bringing a stronger visual identity and a more comprehensive specification to the model line-up.

Exterior equipment gave the RX a clearly identifiable presence. A chrome grille, chrome-highlighted bumper protector, fog lamps with chrome insets and dedicated RX badging were combined with 18-inch alloy wheels. Chrome mirror caps and door handles added further contrast, while integrated side steps improved access to the cabin. A silver front skid plate, rear spoiler, silver rear bumper highlight and silver roof rails completed the more tailored appearance.

The available colour palette included Cool Silver, Black Mica, Warm White, Ironbark and Graphite, allowing the additional exterior detailing to be paired with either a restrained or more contrasting finish. Privacy glass was also included, contributing to the vehicle’s touring-oriented character and helping distinguish the passenger compartment from the exterior.

Inside, the RX added a series of visual and convenience enhancements over the GLX foundation. Titanium-look surrounds for the instrument panel and power-window switches gave the dashboard a more distinctive finish, while an alloy gear-shift selector and chrome interior door handles added small but tangible points of difference. Sun-visor extensions and vanity-mirror lamps addressed everyday usability rather than simply concentrating on appearance.

The technology specification was particularly notable for the period. Mitsubishi’s Multi Communication System incorporated satellite navigation with voice command, while a reversing camera assisted with low-speed manoeuvring. Rear-zone air-conditioning supported passenger comfort, and an electro-chromatic rear-view mirror helped reduce glare. Exterior mirrors incorporated turn repeaters, puddle lights and demisters, combining visibility-related functions with additional convenience.

A Family Convenience Pack was offered as an optional upgrade. It grouped dusk-sensing headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and headlamp washers with rear-seat entertainment comprising a DVD player, a nine-inch screen and two wireless headsets. This option was aimed at extending the vehicle’s long-distance practicality, particularly when rear passengers needed additional entertainment during extended journeys.

The Pajero RX was available with either a 3.8-litre petrol engine or a 3.2-litre diesel engine, with both configurations paired with an automatic transmission. The petrol version was positioned as the higher-output option in the range, while the diesel provided an alternative for buyers prioritising the characteristics of a diesel powertrain. Both versions used Mitsubishi’s All Terrain Technology package and Super Select 4WD II, which provided four driving modes for adapting the drivetrain to differing surfaces and conditions.

Safety equipment included RISE body protection, anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, Active Stability and Traction Control, and front, side and curtain SRS airbags. Together with the four-wheel-drive system, these features formed a broad safety and control package rather than relying solely on the vehicle’s size or ground clearance.

As a model announcement rather than an individual vehicle listing, this page does not provide vehicle-specific details such as year, odometer reading, identification number or stock status. Its focus is the RX specification and the equipment added to the Pajero range.
